In a sensational and tragic incident, a family of five was found dead in Kasganj, UP, with police suspecting a murder-suicide.

According to police, Satyavir, 50, killed his wife Ramshree, 48, and their three children, aged between 9 and 12, before hanging himself.
“The local police received information at around 6.30 am that Satyaveer alias Shyamveer, who was living in a room here, and his family had not come out of the house for 2-3 days. When they reached the spot and removed the curtains, Satyaveer’s body was found hanging from a noose, and the remaining four bodies were found under a duvet on the bed. A forensic team and a dog squad were called to the spot… Prima facie, it appears that Satyaveer was killed,” Ankita Sharma said. He committed suicide after killing the rest of his family.
Five members of one family were found murdered inside their home. Police are awaiting autopsy results to confirm. According to the police, Satyaveer allegedly killed his wife and children before ending his life. Financial difficulties are believed to be the main reason behind this mass suicide.
“We have received information about the death of 5 people here, including a man, his wife and their three children. From the scene, it appears to be a case of suicide as the lock was locked from inside and no signs of forced entry were observed… Expert opinion will be given after post-mortem. From talking to people, it has become clear that financial distress could be the reason behind this incident… Their family members have been contacted… Further action is being taken,” Aligarh Deg Prabhakar said. The accident occurred near the Indian Petrol Pump on Etah Road, under Amapur Kotwali area of Kasganj District. The victims include Satyaveer (alias Shyamveer “Fuji”, 50), his wife Ramshree (48), his daughters Prachi (12) and Amarvati (10), and his son Girish (9).
Satyavir worked as a welder and lived with his family in a room located near a petrol pump. Residents said that Satyavir had not been seen for the past three days. When someone went to check on him, he found the door locked from the inside. After receiving information, the police arrived and had to break down the door to enter.
The police completed the preliminary procedures (panchnama) and sent the bodies for autopsy to the district hospital. Further investigations are underway.
