A 9-year-old boy was shot dead on Friday night when he refused to fetch water demanded by a man who was drinking liquor during a party organized at a house in Kasganj area.

Shahida Nasreen, Circle Officer (Sahawar) of Kasganj, informed that the incident took place during a ‘namkaran’ (naming) ceremony at a house in Yakutganj village within the limits of Sahawar police station in Kasganj district on the intervening night of May 1 and 2, when information was received at Sahawar police station that a boy had been shot. “I told Nasreen.

“On reaching the village, the police team learned that the accused Danish Yadav had shot the 9-year-old boy Yashpal, son of Sukhvir. The injured boy was rushed to the district hospital in Kasganj, but due to his condition deteriorating, the injured boy was referred to JN Medical College in Aligarh, where he died on Saturday, CO Sahawar Nasreen informed.

The case has been registered as Crime Case No. 145/2026 under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sohwar Police Station in Kasganj District. However, with the boy’s death, Section 103(1) of murder was incorporated against the absconding accused, who was later arrested on Saturday from Kasganj area. The police found weapons in the possession of the accused, and he was arrested and transferred to prison after being brought before the court.

Sukhvir had arrived in the village on Friday evening with his son Yashpal to attend the naming ceremony of a baby boy born at Jasvir Jula’s house in Yakutganj village. The accused Danish Yadav was also present at the party and was consuming alcoholic beverages. Yadav allegedly asked the boy Yashpal to bring water, but the boy denied. An enraged Danish Yadav allegedly shot the boy Yashpal in the stomach.
