A four-year-old girl died after she was attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. The accident occurred on Sunday evening on the road linking Uharpur and Bassi Jalal, which falls under the jurisdiction of Tanda Police Station.

The deceased, Junjun, is the daughter of Ram Jeevan and Preeti, a resident of Dianpur village in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh.

PTI news agency reported that the family traveled to Bassi Jalal village to carry out seasonal rice farming work and was staying there during the ongoing farming season.

Parents rushed to the rescue

According to police, the couple left their daughter under the shade of a tree near a tube well, about 100 meters from the field where they were working.

At around 5.30pm, a pack of seven stray dogs allegedly attacked the child and dragged her for some distance. Her screams alerted her parents and other workers working nearby, who immediately rushed to the scene and rescued her.

He suffered injuries during treatment

The injured girl was first taken to the Tanda Community Health Center, where doctors provided first aid. Due to the seriousness of her condition, she was transferred to Hoshiarpur for further treatment.

Police said she later died while receiving treatment at a private hospital.

The police begin investigation

The incident is being investigated by the police. Tanda police station officer, Inspector Gurinderjit Singh Nagra, said police have launched an investigation into the incident.
