A 17-year-old minor died while another sustained injuries after someone stabbed him during a wedding procession in which two groups of boys started quarreling over some issues around 11:15 pm at Rani Bagh in Delhi.

A friend of the deceased said that a quarrel broke out between some children, and the boy must have intervened. However, one of the people at the scene thought he was beating the children, so he stabbed him. It has not yet been confirmed whether the deceased hit anyone. Another victim sustained minor injuries and is currently in hospital.

He added: “Our friend had attended a wedding, and while he was there, a fight broke out between some children, and he must have stepped in to intervene. An older person there saw the commotion and probably thought he was hitting the kids. They didn’t actually know if he was hitting anyone or not. But when he entered the middle of the fight to intervene, that person stabbed him with a knife. There were two of our friends who were stabbed, and one of our friends died, and the other is in the hospital currently.”
The police arrested the main accused and his accomplice. The murder weapon, a knife, was also found.
The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, in a separate incident, PS Alipur police in Delhi’s outer north district on Friday solved a murder case that took place at an addiction treatment center in Hiranki. The officers had received a report of a stabbing incident in a colony in Hiranki. The victim has been identified as Arun Kumar, 22, of Burari. A case under Section 103(1) BNS has been registered at PS Alipur.
A special team led by Inspector Vivek, under the supervision of Inspector Shailender Sharma and ACP/SP Badli, was formed immediately. Within an hour, the team arrested the accused Arun Joshi (27 years old) at the same scene. A blood-stained knife was found in his possession, believed to be the murder weapon.
