54 Missing Every Day, 191 Minors: 807 Missing In Delhi In First 15 Days Of 2026, Majority Women

More than 800 people, mostly women and minors, went missing in Delhi, an average of 54 per day in the first half of January this year, a report said.

The alarming number, which averaged 54 per day, was reported between January 1 and 15. Reports of disappearances have raised serious concerns about child safety and women’s safety in the city.

Girls are more absent than boysGirls made up a large portion of the mission’s population, with 146 missing girls against 45 boys. A total of 191 minors were reported missing, raising concerns about child safety in the city.

The report showed that teenagers made up the majority of missing minors, with 169 teenagers missing. Of these 169 missing persons, 138 are girls and 31 are boys, the report said.

The report noted that 13 children between the ages of 8 and 12 were missing, including eight boys and five girls. Along with this, nine children under the age of eight have also gone missing. Only six of these young children have been found so far.

Most absent adultsAdults made up the majority of missing persons during this period, with 616 cases reported, including 363 women and 253 men. While police have so far identified 181 adults, 435 cases are still unsolved.

The data reflect a deep, long-term pattern in the capital. In 2025, Delhi reported more than 24,500 cases of missing persons, with more than 60 percent reported being women.

An analysis spanning the past decade reveals that around 2.3 lakh people have gone missing in the city and around 52,000 of these cases remain unsolved till date, the report said.
