Two men were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the alleged assault of a 53-year-old Army brigadier general and his son. The army officer and his son objected to these people drinking in public places outside their residence in Delhi’s Vasant area, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel said in a statement that Satender (49) and Sanjay Sharma (56) were arrested. He added that the Mercedes car in which the two were drinking alcohol was seized.
According to the statement, Satender is a director of Chaudhary Aviation Pvt Ltd, which provides aviation services, including cargo and leasing operations, and is also involved in the buying and selling of aircraft and their parts. On the other hand, Sharma runs Pandit Ji Dhaba in Mehram Nagar.
What happened?
Brigadier Parminder Singh Arora and his 23-year-old son Tejas Arora said they were attacked in the presence of a police officer, and that their complaints were not immediately dealt with at Vasant Vihar police station, as mentioned in an earlier HT report.
Arora said that around 10 p.m., he and his son went out for a walk and saw two men drinking inside a Mercedes Benz parked outside their house. “We knew they were not from our group, so I asked them not to drink in public,” he said. The men allegedly refused.
Arora then called the police, and a junior officer arrived at the spot. The officer heard the complaint but said no action could be taken.
Soon after, about seven to eight people allegedly arrived at the spot and started attacking his son, while also pushing him. “The cop just stood there and did nothing,” Arora said.
In her written complaint to the police, which HT viewed, the dean’s wife also said that they posted “comments that insulted my modesty” when she tried to intervene and protect her husband and son.
