Streaming fans can soon watch Zendaya and Robert Pattinson navigate the fallout of over-sharing Drama.
HBO Max announced Tuesday that writer-director Christopher Burghley’s dark comedy will premiere on the streaming service on July 31. The next day, the film will premiere on HBO.
Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim and Hailey Gates complete the cast of the film, which A24 releases in theaters April 3.
Drama The film revolves around Emma Harwood (Zendaya), who works in a publishing house, and the director of the British Museum, Charlie Thompson (Pattinson). The relationship between a happily engaged couple is pushed to the brink after an unexpected discovery during their wedding week.
Burghley (Dream scenario) He directed the film from his own script. Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen and Tyler Campelloni serve as producers.
Drama It sparked controversy on social media over its vague marketing campaign that did not directly reveal the film’s main focus. It crossed $130 million at the global box office in its theatrical run.
In his review of Drama to Hollywood Reporter“, critic Richard Lawson wrote, “The film is just a different reworking of very familiar material. It’s a deceptively simple drama of cold feet, of pre-wedding jitters, only given the stigma of more thoughtful, more piercing social inquiry. “What exactly Emma reveals in the end doesn’t matter.”
The review went on to praise Pattinson’s “natural, engaging performance” and noted that “the actors have a fluid sense of comedic timing for the film.”
Both Zendaya and Pattinson can be seen later this year Odyssey and Sand Dunes: Part Three.
