The luxury house invited VIPs to be the first to see its 2027 collection, “shaped by the spirit of summer and Zegna’s ongoing dialogue between Italian craftsmanship and the world around us.”

“In the car, heading west.”

This is the perfect place to be in the golden hour for Alessandro Sartori, so it was no surprise that Zegna’s artistic director channeled the Italian fashion house’s summer 2027 presentation to a stunning backdrop in the trend by taking charge of Malibu Pier on Friday evening. It was an event in more ways than one. Zegna typically reserves its collection’s debut for Milan Fashion Week, and by taking it west, the show provided an exclamation point for Los Angeles as the third high-profile runway show in the city after Hermès at Bel-Air last night and Dior at LACMA last month.

Plenty of stylish Hollywood insiders hopped in their cars to drive west for the occasion, including Academy Award winners Rami Malek, Mahershala Ali, and Ludwig Göransson, actors Paul Dano, Stellan Skarsgård, Gael Garcia Bernal, Henry Zaga, and Qua Raymond, basketball stars Scottie Pippen, Kevin Love, and Dwight Powell, filmmakers Roman Coppola and Andy Muschietti, and artist Honor Titus, and energy agents such as CAA. Joel Lubin and Franklin Lat, and designers Warren Alfie Baker, Jane Yang, Andrew Weitz, and Chase Dennis, among many others.

There were hundreds at the scene, with the Malibu Pier not only offering plenty of real estate for seating, but also views of unpaid extras in the form of seals and surfers lined up to catch the high tide to cap off the day. The only thing missing is sunlight. After a brief afternoon appearance, the sun disappeared behind a cloud-covered sky to create a gray backdrop, but Sartori’s summer collection made up for it with bursts of color such as summer sets in yellow, green and burnt orange.

Even before the first group hit the runway, Yang was feeling a glow. “Everyone who arrived here tonight experienced devastation [the Palisades Fire] It is a reminder of what this community has been through. The fact that Zegna and all these European fashion houses support California means a lot because we need it. We need to acknowledge and support this community that has given so much to films and the industry. As I drove here, I couldn’t believe how many homes burned down. It is very sad but thank God there is someone who recognizes and remembers him. “It’s nice to be here,” she said.

Yang stood next to photographer and cultural change-maker Carlos Eric Lopez as they sipped Aperol Spritzes and took in the stunning views. “I really love that Xenia is tapping into the beauty of California and specifically Malibu,” Lopez explained. “Summer is about to start, so our Instagram accounts are about to be filled with everyone traveling to these exotic locations. As Angelenos, we have summer all year round, so I’m really excited to be on the dock with the surfers on the left. It’s all special. It’s a dream, a fantasy, and real life at the same time.”

Hat maker Nick Fouquet said he had his surfboard in the car and was ready to “jump in the water” as soon as the show was over. “Culturally, you can’t beat the ocean, the mountains and everything we have to offer here. A display like this is a tribute to the strength of our city,” Fouquet noted.

There was a lot of power in Sartori’s group, too. As with any Zegna summer collection, the show was heavy on luxurious linen pieces with pinstripe suits, shorts, trousers and impeccably tailored shirts. But there were surprises like leather shirts, shorts and oversized jackets. “The perforated leather jackets were amazing,” explained designer Dennis, whose clients include Tim Cook, Trammell Tillman and Christopher Meloni. “I couldn’t take my eyes off the butter yellow collection either. Every look was my favorite. I couldn’t pick just one.”

Göransson had a hard time choosing a favorite as well. “I can definitely see myself wearing anything. But I really liked the green suit, monochromatic pieces like the navy suit, and anything oversized.” the Sinners The composer had a much easier time describing the feeling of sitting in the front row on the Malibu dock enjoying the parade of looks. “Only in Los Angeles, right?” TRUE. Also in Los Angeles, VIPs from Malibu headed to Bar Marmont in Hollywood for a late-night after-show party.
