Blink49 Studios has appointed former Season 5 executive Yogita Puri as Executive Vice President and Head of Business and Legal.
Puri will help build the global business at Blink49 Studios, a Toronto-based company led by CEO John Morainis. She joined the independent studio from the fifth season, its successor the Independent Film and Television Studio His and hers and to cut.
In Season 5, Puri served as Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel, overseeing international television production and distribution. Fifth Season is also a strategic investor in Blink49.
“Yogita brings an exceptional blend of business experience, strategic vision and industry relationships that will be invaluable as we continue to grow the business. Her experience across global markets and collaborative approach make her a natural fit for Blink49,” Morainis said in a statement.
Morayniss, Patrice Theroux, Jeff Lynas and Nelson Kuo-Lee — all veteran executives from Entertainment One — launched Blink49 as a Canadian-based independent banner in fall 2021 to develop and produce scripted and unscripted content. Blink49 produces content for global export on both sides of the US-Canada border, and has additional offices in Los Angeles, Vancouver and New York. Blink49 produces the reality series Blue collar and Yaga Written series.
Puri will look to expand the independent banner’s global roster and production footprint as Blink49 navigates the end of the peak TV era. “Blink49 has built a strong foundation rooted in creative partnerships and a clear strategic vision. I am excited to collaborate across the business to enable innovative dealmaking and respond to the changing media landscape,” Puri said in her own statement.
Prior to her executive stint at Fifth Season, formerly known as Endeavor Content, Puri served as Head of Corporate and Commercial Affairs at The Ink Factory, where she structured and negotiated content financing and distribution deals across a range of media platforms.
