Yash for “Sam: A Fairy Tale for Adults”; Balances writing, producing and acting; Explains why the release was delayed

‘KGF’ star Yash has a much bigger role than just the lead in the upcoming action film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’. The actor is also involved as a writer and producer and the Hindi film has created huge anticipation.

Post the success of KGF, Yash is now overseeing many aspects of filmmaking as he gears up to deliver the central performance.

Writing first, production later

In an interview with Variety, Yash explained that he approaches every responsibility with a different mindset. He said that creativity should remain unrestrained while writing.“When you’re writing, you shouldn’t be thinking like a product when you’re writing it on paper,” he shared. “But once you’ve written it, the next point is to think like a product – what are the logistics, how much does this take, how commercially viable is this.”

Because at the end of the day, a lot of people depend on cinema, a lot of people work in it, and their livelihood depends on this profession.Yash said that after completing the script, he started focusing on logistics, budgets and business decisions. He pointed out that filmmaking involves many workers whose livelihoods depend on the industry.

Representation carries ultimate responsibility

The actor said his priorities change again when he steps in front of the camera. At this stage, he focuses only on conveying the vision of the writer and director through his performance.

He added: “And then when I come to the screen, I only think about what the writer or director is trying to say through this scene. As an actor, I bear all the responsibilities because everyone gives their best work, but if the actor does not nail it properly, everything is in vain.”Yash stressed that the actor is the final link in translating the efforts of the entire team to the audience.

Yash explains the delay in the film’s release

Earlier this year, Yash had confirmed that Toxic would not be slated for a June 4 release.

He said the film itself has been completed, but discussions are ongoing to secure global distribution and strategic partnerships.Speaking about the delay, Yash said: “Right now, I have made a decision to take my time and release this film. This is really something that my fans or people in India will not like. They will be upset because culturally you used to like once you start shooting a film, to have a timeline in their head.”

Unfortunately, marketing happens even if you don’t want it to. The moment we start filming, people start writing about it.

“In the West, everything starts when you finish the film. If someone wants to buy the film or if someone wants to be part of the film, they want to see the film because it takes huge amounts of money. These are the things that are challenging, but I think I trust my people, so they understand that what we are trying to do is something we should all do.”

“Toxic” is ready to expand globally

Yash also addressed the delay in a statement shared on Instagram, “There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic was one such journey. Presenting our film at CinemaCon and seeing the overwhelming global response reaffirmed what we have always believed – that this film deserves to reach its full potential across the world.”Written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas, ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ is one of the most awaited projects of the year.
