‘Wuthering Heights’ Alison Oliver stars in Irish period thriller ‘Bad Bridgets’

New from her distinguished work in Wuthering HeightsAlison Oliver re-teams with LuckyChap to star in the revenge thriller Bad Bridgets.

Oliver replaces Daisy Edgar-Jones.Hurricanes) in the film, which will be written and directed by BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Rich Peppiatt Patella. Jones is said to have stepped aside due to scheduling conflicts.

Emilia Jones remains on board to star in the project, which is being produced by LuckyChap, the company helmed by Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Josie McNamara, and Milan Popelka; and Coup, the banner of Peppiatt’s production.

The screenplay is inspired by the book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Immigrant Women Written by Eileen Farrell and Leanne McCormick and developed with support from Queen’s University Belfast.

The book looked into the world of Bad Bridget, a group of Irish immigrant women who were considered troublemakers, noting that Irish women outnumbered Irish men in prisons for some time. (It didn’t help that some of the detained women were there out of “stubbornness.”)

The project was one of the best-selling titles on the US film market last fall.

According to the producers, the script’s story begins when a mysterious letter sets a young woman on a perilous journey from famine-ravaged Ireland to 19th-century New York, whereupon she joins the ranks of Irish Bridget who is wreaking havoc in the city.

Academy Award-winning production designer James Price and costume designer Kate Hawley are already on board.

This will be Oliver’s third time working with LuckyChap. In addition to participating in the tournament Wuthering Heightswhich starred Robbie, the actress appeared in it Saltburnthe 2023 erotic drama also produced by LuckyChap.

in Wuthering HeightsOliver played Isabella Linton, a naive woman who is initially fascinated by ideas of romance extroverted by the reality around her. Critics characterized her performance as scene-stealing.

The Irish actress also starred with Mark Ruffalo in the popular HBO police drama a task.

Oliver is repped by CAA and Curtis Brown in the UK.
