The world of Will Ferrell’s sports comedy will expand this summer.
Netflix has given a title and premiere window to Ferrell’s golf comedy. It’s called Falcon (Change from all caps Golf It was announced at the time Netflix ordered the series) and will debut sometime during the summer.
As for the plot Falcon: If you see Talladega nights (or Semi-professionalor Blades of Glory), you probably have a rough idea of what’s to come. Ferrell plays Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, “the number one golfer in 2004,” with a personal style (curly, bleached hair, a similarly dyed goatee and a strongly colored golf shirt) to match. The show’s tagline reads: “Lonnie struggles in the latter part of his career to get his mojo back. His body says he’s retiring, but his heart says he’s not done yet. His ex-wife Stacey (Molly Shannon) and son Lance (Jimmy Tatro), golf’s new golden boy, know he’s made it through. But with one more major championship to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s just one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history.”
Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver and David Hornsby also star in the 10-episode season. Feimster plays the caddy. Wilson is a competitive golfer. Parnell is a PGA Tour official; Tarver, Tatro’s influential fiancée Lance; Hornsby is a rich man who is now dating Stacey.
Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alex Taylor are executive producers Falcon Via their Gloria Sanchez products. T-Street’s Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, and Nina Rodrigue also executive produce, as do Chris Henchy, Harper Still — both frequent Ferrell collaborators — David Gordon Green and Andrew Guest.
Netflix also released a short teaser for Falcon With Ferrell in his early days. Watch it below.
