Whenever a new Drishyam film hits theatres, one name inevitably comes back to the audience’s attention – Ansiba Hassan. The actress, who plays Anju George, the eldest daughter of Georgekutty and Rani George in the blockbuster film, has once again become a talking point after the release of ‘Drishyam 3’.Ansiba, born on June 18, 1992, is an actress, television presenter, dancer, model, and television presenter. She is also known for participating in Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 6 in 2024.

The mother’s unfulfilled dream became her daughter’s journey

In a previous conversation with Manorama Online, Ansiba spoke about the person who played the biggest role in shaping her career – her mother Razia.“More than me, it was my mother Razia who wanted me to become an actress. There is only an age difference between us of 16 or 17 years, and she is the person I share everything with,” she said.

My father, Nassar, is a photographer, and we are six brothers in the family.”Ansiba revealed that her mother always dreamed of acting in films. But circumstances prevented her from achieving this ambition.“My mother always dreamed of acting in films,” the actress recalled. “However, since she came from a conservative family, she never had the opportunity to fulfill this dream. So she decided that her daughter should at least become an actress.”

It was my mother who took me to the theaters and made sure I watched every movie without fail. Gradually, I also developed a passion for cinema.”

The reality show that changed everything

Ansiba’s entry into the entertainment industry began unexpectedly during her school days. Recalling that phase, she said, “When I was in ninth standard, I participated in a reality show. In fact, it was my mother who secretly made my younger brother send my photos for the audition without telling me.

I was eventually chosen to be the ‘folk heroine’ of the show.”

Early Tamil films led to ‘Drishyam’

Ansiba’s first acting opportunity came while she was still studying at Plus One. “A group of reality show winners caught the attention of Tamil lyricist and director Ekadasi, who invited me to act in his film Konjam Veyil Konjam Mazhai. At that time, I was studying in Plus One. In this film, I played two different roles – a Plus Two student and a 28-year-old housewife,” she recalled.According to Ansiba, “My second film was also in Tamil. It was titled Udumban, and I played a village girl. After seeing the footage of these roles, director Jeethu Joseph approached me for Drishyam.” That opportunity proved to be the turning point in her career.

Destiny, success and recent controversies

Ansiba believes that fate has guided every major chapter of her life and career. “The meaning of the name Ansiba itself is ‘destiny.’ I truly believe that everything happens according to destiny, and my journey has developed exactly that way,” she said.

Latest AMMA controversy

While ‘Drishyam 3’ has brought renewed attention to her acting career, the actress has also been in the news recently for her allegations against AMMA and actor Tiny Tom.The former Joint Secretary of AMMA claimed that there was a conspiracy against her within the organisation, and alleged that complaints raised by members were not dealt with appropriately. According to Ansiba, she made the decision to resign from AMMA because of Tiny Tom.On the other hand, ‘Drishyam 3’ is now running successfully in theaters and has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide, according to Sakneelak.
