When Govinda revealed that his fan worked as a domestic help, Sunita verified: “She was from a big family and her father owned eight cars.”

Govinda was among the biggest stars of the 1990s, enjoying immense popularity for his acting, comedy and dance performances. During a previous interview, the actor looked back on an unusual incident involving one of his fans, who reportedly joined his house staff just to stay close to him.Sharing the memory, Govinda revealed that he repeatedly noticed a young woman standing outside his residence. Thinking she was looking for work, he directed her to his mother, who looked after the house and managed the domestic staff. Recalling the incident, Govinda told Bollywood Bubble, “She was from a well-to-do family. One day I saw her standing outside my house. I asked her: ‘Do you want a job? Ask my mother. She just takes care of all the work at home.’

My mother gave her a job as a domestic helper.”

Sunita Ahuja I became suspicious

According to Govinda, the woman struggled with her domestic responsibilities but showed a noticeable change in behavior whenever the actor returned home. Her enthusiasm eventually caught the attention of his wife, Sunita Ahuja, who sensed something was unusual. Sunita later decides to investigate the matter herself. She eventually learned that the woman belonged to a wealthy family and only took the job because she was a huge fan of Govinda.

Sharing the incident, Sunita said, “One day, she was talking on the phone. She snatched her phone. She was talking to her father and came to know that she comes from a big family and her father owns eight cars. But since she was a huge fan of Govinda, she just wanted to be with him.”

Why did the couple hide their marriage?

Govinda and Sunita chose to keep their marriage private during the initial years of the actor’s career. Sunita explained that they believe revealing the marriage so early could have affected Govinda’s popularity with fans.

“At that time he was at the peak of his career. At that time, it was like when the hero gets married, the fans go kam ho jaati hai (the number of fans was going down). So, I told him, ‘Just sign as many films as you can for a year, till then, chup chaap se rahenge,'” she recalled.

Main room mein chup kar baithti thi (We didn’t reveal anything. I was hiding in a room). “But when our daughter was born, we revealed it on her first birthday.” The couple tied the knot in 1987 and then announced their marriage publicly during their daughter Tina Ahuja’s first birthday celebrations.

Govinda’s latest work

On the professional front, Govinda has largely stayed away from the big screen in recent years. His last major outing as a lead actor was the 2019 comedy-drama ‘Rangeela Raja’. Before that, he appeared in the 2018 comedy film “FryDay”. Meanwhile, Sunita Ahuja participated in “Lock Upp Season 2”, and the show premiered on July 27.
