When Anne Hathaway gave an empowering message about motherhood and postpartum weight loss
In an old Instagram post, addressed to her fans and netizens, the famous “The Devil Wears Prada” actress called for acceptance of being overweight and of all body types.
She posted a photo of herself wearing denim and added a caption that read: “There’s no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever). There’s no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all).”Talking about how bodies naturally change and grow, she added, “There’s no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer was too short for your thighs this summer. Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise).”The post was shared on her social media account just a few months after she gave birth to Adam Shulman’s first son, Jonathan Rosebanks.
That year, she also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she spoke candidly about how she herself had gained confidence and a new appreciation for her curves.“If someone says, ‘You had a baby 13 years ago,’ you say, ‘You look great.’ That’s what you do. That’s etiquette. So I say to this guy, ‘You had a baby seven weeks ago.’ And he says, ‘Oh, are you trying to lose the baby weight?'” She also shared that initially, when I started going to the gym after giving birth, I felt very embarrassed about the whole thing. However, I was able to overcome all of that.
She added at the time: “I walked in and said to myself, ‘Yes, I train with 5-pound weights, but I pushed a baby out of my body. I feel good now.'”
