Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer comedy ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ has seen another sharp decline in its earnings at the Indian box office. The film, which entered its fourth week in theaters, witnessed a sharp decline in its collections on Friday, coinciding with the release of Christopher Nolan’s long-awaited epic “The Odyssey”, which has emerged as a new choice for Indian moviegoers.

According to sacnilk’s early estimates, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ has earned just Rs 20 lakh on the 22nd, from around 738 shows it ran in theaters across the country. The latest figures take the film’s total net collection in India to an estimated Rs 132.05 crore, while the film’s total collections in India are estimated at Rs 156.89 crore.According to the report, Friday’s fourth transaction represents a steep 60 per cent fall from Thursday’s estimated collection of Rs 50 lakh.

This decline also comes as the film approaches the end of its theatrical run.

Weekly Welcome to the Jungle collections

The film received a promising response, collecting approximately Rs 93 crore during its first week. However, he was unable to maintain the momentum in the following weeks. According to the report, in its second week, the film saw a significant decline in collections to around Rs 31.90 crore, while the third week saw collections fall to single digits, contributing only Rs 6.80 crore.

Now, with the film starting its fourth weekend at a low price with a collection of just Rs 20 lakh, it remains to be seen if it can keep up the pace for next week.

Despite slowing down in India, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ is on track to gross Rs 200 crore at the global box office. The film has collected an estimated Rs 33.35 crore gross in international markets, taking its total global collection to Rs 190.24 crore. It remains to be seen if the film can add another Rs 10 crore to its collections this week before it gears up for its OTT debut.

“The Odyssey” vs. “Welcome to the Jungle”

The film’s box office slowdown can be linked to the arrival of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, which was released across India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The Hollywood epic had an impressive debut, grossing approximately Rs 20.76 crore and collecting an estimated Rs 17.40 crore nett on its opening day. Driven by strong occupancy in IMAX and premium formats, the film dominated premium and multiplex screens, attracting audiences that might otherwise have opted for domestic releases.It is worth noting that Nolan’s latest film also overtook Welcome to The Jungle in its opening day box office collections, putting it on track to become one of the best-performing Hollywood films in India.
