'We announced first': Imtiaz Ali addresses the clash between 'Main Vaapas Aaunga' and Kangana Ranaut's 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata'

Imtiaz Ali’s much-awaited film ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, starring Sharvari, Vedang Raina, Diljit Dosanjh, and Naseeruddin Shah, is headed for a June 12 release along with three other films – ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’, ‘Governor: The Silent Saviour’, and ‘Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past’.

Now, the director has responded to the film’s conflict with his trademark calm.

Imtiaz Ali’s reaction to ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ Box office struggle

Speaking to Free Press Journal, Imtiaz Ali addressed the situation directly, saying, “These things are not under control. We announced first. Usually, in the film industry, there is a kind of pashara like ‘meri film aarahi hai toh tu mat aa, next baar aaja’ and that kind of thing, and it usually works (usually, in the film industry, there is a kind of fraternity where people say things like, ‘My film is releasing now, so don’t release at the same time, come next time,’ and that kind of understanding It usually works.)

He added, “This is the first time I have heard that other films will also be released on that day. But if so, so be it.”He also put the busy release calendar into perspective and said: “There are only 52 weeks, and there are over 52 films released every year. So, it’s bound to happen.”

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film stars Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari. AR Rahman has composed the music for the film.‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ will hit theaters on June 12, 2025.
