Warner Bros. was introduced. Animation (WBA). Dark shadows Back from the grave.

The iconic 1960s TV show, a gothic TV series featuring tortured vampire Barnabas Collins and his supernaturally dysfunctional family, will be reimagined as an animated series for adults, Hollywood Reporter I’ve learned.

The original series, created by Dan Curtis, aired weekdays on ABC from 1966 to 1971 and gained a loyal following. It was one of the first successful daytime soap operas and has become an enduring cult classic. The show has spawned several feature film adaptations, most famously the 2012 Tim Burton film starring Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer.

WBA Animation said Dark shadows The reboot will continue the Collins family saga. The official logline reads: “This upcoming adaptation blends the gothic, horror and supernatural genres, with all the dark twists and romantic intrigue that have defined the transformative series across more than 1,200 episodes.”

Lisa Holdsworth, author of the Channel 4 series Dreamers And a writer at Sky Discovery of witches And BBC Call your midwifewill executive produce and serve as showrunner on the series. Other executive producers include Cathy Curtis, Tracy Curtis, Eric Homan, Kevin Kolde and Fred Seibert. The series is currently in development. The WBA did not provide any details about the expected delivery date.

WBA announced the project during a studio focus session in Annecy, where WBA’s Peter Girardi (Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming) and Shalin Desai (Senior Vice President, Adult Series) previewed the studios’ current adult animation slate.
