Victoria Beckham has spoken candidly about her split from her son Brooklyn after he criticized his famous parents in an infamous Instagram post – and without uttering the name of her wayward child.

“We love our kids so much. We’ve always tried to be the best parents we can be,” the former Spice Girl singer told WSJ magazine in a profile. In a January 2026 Instagram Stories post, Brooklyn Beckham accused his parents, former soccer star David and Victoria Beckham, of controlling “narratives in the press about our family” and “trying to endlessly destroy my relationship” with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, among other claims.

Victoria and David Beckham have four children who have been caught up in the family feud: sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, and daughter Harper Seven. “You know, we’ve been in the public eye for over 30 years, and all we’ve tried to do is protect our kids and love our kids. And, you know, that’s all I really want to say about this,” she added.

She insisted that negative media attention over the very public family feud had not undermined her fashion and beauty products business. “I think people end up buying my product because the product is really good. I don’t think they buy my eyeliner just because it’s me,” the pop star turned fashion designer said.

In his famous Instagram Story post, Brooklyn said he “doesn’t want to reconcile” with his parents as he starts a new life with Nelson Peltz’s daughter, Nicola. “My wife and I don’t want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. We have tried our best for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press event to show our “perfect family.” But the one time my wife asked for my mom’s support to save Displaced dogs during the Los Angeles fires, my mother refused.

Beckham’s son was also angered by speculation that he was being controlled by Nicola Peltz Beckham: “The narrative that my wife is controlling me is completely the opposite. My parents have been controlling me for most of my life. I grew up with severe anxiety. For the first time in my life, since moving away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I have chosen, and I have found peace and comfort.” “My wife and I don’t want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation.
