President Donald Trump is speaking out about the “third-rate artists” who have pulled out of his Freedom 250 concert series, suggesting that he might invite “the guy with a much bigger audience than Elvis,” referring to himself, to take their place with a speech.
Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday, where he said he draws bigger crowds than the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll “in his prime.” “I understand that artists are excited about their performance on Wednesday, so I’m thinking of bringing the number one attraction anywhere in the world, the man who has a much larger audience than Elvis in his prime, and does it without a guitar, the man who loves our country more than anyone else, and the man some say is the greatest president in history (GOAT!), Donald J. Trump, to replace these highly paid third-rate people,” he wrote. Artists, give an important speech, and rally the country forward as you have done since you became President!
On Friday, Bret Michaels and The Commodores joined a group of musical talents who announced their exit from the concert series. In a statement on his website, Poison’s lead singer explained that “unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of.”
Young MC, Morris Day and Martina McBride also dropped out of the Freedom 250 concert lineup. It was also announced that Milli Vanilli would join the lineup, but Jodi Rocco, a member of the group, told… news agency On Thursday she was “shocked” to see Milli Vanilli’s name on the list.
Trump continued: “Two years ago, the United States was dead. Now we have the ‘hottest’ country anywhere in the world. I don’t want so-called ‘artists’ who get paid too much and are not happy.” “I just want to be surrounded by happy people, smart people, successful people, people who know how to win. So, under some version of that truth, I’m asking my representatives to consider the feasibility of organizing the ‘AMERICA IS BACK’ rally on Wednesday, in Washington, D.C., at the same time, and the same location. Only great patriots will be invited – it will be a wild, beautiful celebration of America!”
Vanilla Ice and Flo Rida are two artists scheduled to perform across the Freedom 250 concert series. The event takes place from June 25 to July 10 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., as part of the Freedom 250 public-private partnership, which is supported by the Trump administration.
