James Handy, an actor who has appeared in projects including Top Gun: Maverick and JumanjiHe was killed on Wednesday. He was 81 years old.
The Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement that Handy was stabbed by his girlfriend’s son, Michael Gledhill, in Tarzana. The stabbing is currently being investigated.
“On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m., West Valley District Patrol officers responded to a radio call about an unknown trouble in the 19200 block of Irwin Street. The 911 caller said, ‘I am a son of man, I have just killed the man of sin.’” Upon arrival, officers discovered 81-year-old James Handy in the front yard of the residence, unconscious and suffering from a stab wound to his chest, a police statement said. Los Angeles: “The victim was transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, where he was pronounced dead.”
The LAPD statement continued: “The suspect notified nearby officers, telling them that he was the person they were looking for. The suspect resides at the location with his mother, who is the victim’s friend.” “Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public at this time.”
Gledhill, 44, a Tarzana resident, was arrested and transported to the Van Nuys Jail where he was booked on one count of murder.
Handy appeared in 2022 Top Gun A sequel where he played a bartender. in JumanjiHe photographed the exterminator. Elsewhere, the actor has also appeared in films including… Arachnophobia (1990) and The missile (1991).
