Toaster Trailer: Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra to star in a messy dark comedy about obsession - watch

Get ready to laugh in ‘Toaster’, where Rajkummar Rao plays Ramakant, a man whose obsession with an ordinary wedding toaster turns his life upside down. With Patralekha at the helm of the production, this dark comedy invites viewers to witness how Ramakant’s vulgar tendencies lead his friends into a complex and funny predicament.

Helmed by Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, Toaster has unveiled a new trailer, offering a closer look at its dark comedy world, ahead of its April 15 premiere. The preview introduces Rao as Ramakant, a man so attached to every rupee he spends that a wasted wedding gift sends him into a spiraling state of disarray.

His attempt to retrieve the toaster quickly throws the story into chaos.

Toaster trailer reveals Rajkummar Rao Obsessive personality

According to Netflix, the story follows Ramakant’s extreme economy and the repercussions it creates. What begins as a personal obsession soon draws others into confusion. The trailer portrays the film as a black comedy rooted in a simple idea. A man refuses to give up something he paid for, and this mentality slowly takes over his world. The result is a story built on control, coercion, and consequence.Directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary and produced by Patralekha under Kampa Film, Toaster stars Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Vinod Rawat, Jitendra Joshi and Seema Pahwa. The supporting cast heightens the tension as Ramakant’s behavior pushes the narrative into strange territory. The trailer suggests a movie full of sharp turns, awkward encounters, and increasing chaos.

Rajkummar Rao in ‘Toaster’ and Netflix version

Talking about the film, Rajkummar Rao said, “This is a special film for me as it marks our first film under our production house, Kampa Film, and is produced by Patralekha. I am really excited to bring this story to the audiences. What really attracted me to Toaster is how something so small can completely take over a person’s mind.”He added, “Ramakant is someone who sincerely believes he is doing the right thing. He does not see his actions as extreme, he sees them as practical. But that is exactly what makes the journey so unexpected. It is a story that comes from a very real place, and watching that honesty turn to chaos is what makes the film both engaging and entertaining.”In essence, “The Toaster” takes an ordinary habit and pushes it to an absurd extreme. The clip offers a fast-paced story as the stubborn logic of a man fuels the madness around him. “Toaster” begins streaming on Netflix on April 15.
