The phrase “explosion of violence” is in the official description of Half a manFollow creator and star Richard Gadd Reindeer baby. The trailer for the HBO limited series doesn’t depict this, but the action seems to hang over every bit of it.

Half a man Stars Jade and Jamie Bell as Niall and Robin, who have been brothers in everything but DNA since they were children. When Niall shows up at Robin’s wedding 30 years later, “everything looks different,” as the show’s description says. “He’s on the edge. Cunning. He doesn’t act like himself. And soon there’s an explosion of violence that takes us back into their lives, from the 1980s to the present day. Capturing 30 years of the lives of these broken men, Half a man is a six-part limited series that explores brotherhood, violence, and the extreme fragility of male relationships. After all, when things fall apart, it’s sometimes the closest relationships that break down the hardest.

The six-episode series is scheduled to premiere on April 23 on HBO and HBO Max and on April 24 on BBC iPlayer in the UK, with a live broadcast on the BBC later that week.
