Fox sets another date with The best medicine.
The network has renewed the drama starring Josh Charles for a second season in 2026-2027. The capture isn’t a big surprise, either The best medicine It has put up very strong ratings during its first season so far.
In addition, Hollywood Reporter I learned exclusively that the Eliza coupe (Happy endings, accommodation) will guest star in the final two episodes of the first season as Charles’ ex Dr. Martin Best.

The best medicine It is an adaptation of the long-running British series Dr. Martinin which Charles plays a former Boston surgeon who leaves that life behind and becomes a general practitioner in the small fishing village where he spent his childhood summers. Abigail Spencer, Josh Segarra, Annie Potts and Cree also star.
The show has performed well for Fox this season, averaging 6 million viewers across platforms over a seven-day period. The January 4 series premiere has garnered 12.6 million viewers so far.
In the final episodes of the first season, Coupe will play Dr. Eden Montgomery, who dated Martin while in medical school and for several years afterward. Her character is described as the female version of Martin: awkward and direct but confident and highly intelligent. Now a fertility specialist, Aiden comes to Port Wayne to help a patient and win Martin back. The coupe is repped by Verve and Ames/Hashagan Entertainment.
