Jon Favreau The Mandalorian and Grogu It held its first press screening on Thursday evening, and early reaction on social media appears to have been fairly subdued.
While the official critics of The Mandalorian and Grogu Embargoed until May 19, close to the film’s May 22 release date, Disney/Lucasfilm allowed the press to issue a brief reaction on social media after the screenings.
The film is the first feature-length Star Wars film since 2019 The Rise of Skywalkera big-screen outing for the hit Disney+ show The Mandalorian. This is how the story takes place star wars universe but follows the timeline and story of the series rather than any of the previous films.
Pedro Pascal plays the bounty hunter and is accompanied by Grogu, a very cute Muppet who is an infant and the same species as Yoda. The film stars Jeremy Allen White, Latif Crowder, and Sigourney Weaver.
The film revolves around Din Djaren (Pascal) and his apprentice Grogu who are recruited on a mission by the New Republic where they must rescue Rota the Hutt (The White) while avoiding the remnants of the Empire and deadly bounty hunters.
Favreau, who created the Disney+ series, is directing the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dave Filoni and Noah Clore.

The Mandalorian and Grogu: The marketing had me worried, but this movie is actually a lot of fun. Yes, it feels like a few episodes of a big-budget, high-budget TV show – more of a week-long adventure than the story of a massive galactic event. If you liked the show you will love this.…

STAR WARS is back on the big screen and #TheMandalorianAndGrogu is an exciting adventure filled with big battles, evil creatures, and plenty of great Grogu moments. It’s less about tradition and more about fun and frolics across the galaxy. I really dug that about this topic.
I also really dug… pic.twitter.com/XoQwKbRG9N

The Mandalorian and GROGU is a big-screen-worthy Star Wars adventure that offers plenty of galactic fun for the whole family. Favreau rightly chose to return this IP to its Eastwood-style space western roots as he effectively expands that world instead… pic.twitter.com/vteov4l8yS

#TheMandalorianAndGrogu is a movie that will draw audiences, raise smiles, and put Star Wars back on the theatrical track. Director Jon Favreau (once again) is a safe man who delivers a solid, exciting and engaging fun experience. The powerful popcorn movie that’s the summer blockbuster you’ve been looking for. pic.twitter.com/ox2cVXexoJ

The Mandalorian and Grogu: Ludwig Göransson never sleeps at the wheel. Its new themes and motifs are more addictive than ever. If it wasn’t already obvious, it’s invaluable to the entire Mando series.

#TheMandalorianAndGrogu: I’m defenseless against Grogu. (And the Anzelian robot makers.) It’s irresistibly cute and also a feat of filmmaking that I can’t get enough of.
Rota whale? Not to the same extent. Live Hutts are a challenge to achieve, and wrestler Hutts are even more so, which is… pic.twitter.com/QLHcyRvK2u

The Mandalorian and Grogu MVP? Ludwig Göransson. He’s now won three Oscars, so perhaps this is obvious, but every production with him on the list is very lucky to have him. I still can’t get enough of the Mando theme and have been energized over and over again as Göransson…

The Mandalorian and Grogu: Finally, they made Star Wars for me to despise! A few cute moments can’t save him from being so bored and out of sorts. It feels like a marathon of the show’s finest episodes that are also completely unnecessary. A waste of time and resources. pic.twitter.com/rKAp3M9eAU

#TheMandalorianandGrogu As expected. The ring is longer and larger than the width. It has one or two standout scenes but seems more interested in developing the story into new locations with new creatures than the characters. I enjoyed some of it, was left disappointed but the rest. pic.twitter.com/LRlf8x8CVU

I loved #MandalorianAndGrogu way more than I expected. The first half looked like I thought it would, but I didn’t expect to love Rotta the Hutt as much as I did. And seeing Grogu as the hero was great. Star Wars on the big screen looks just fine. pic.twitter.com/MeghNqpAK9

#TheMandalorianAndGrogu is one of the weakest Star Wars films.
A predictable emotional experience that doesn’t push Din Djarin anywhere interesting. Boring and unexciting fight scenes; Just CGI monsters. Action figures mashed together.
A feature-length, colorless film made for television. pic.twitter.com/DoOpve0fPC

The Mandalorian and Grogu… okay? An inoffensive and technically impressive spectacle, it’s kind of a snoozer. Structured very much like an abbreviated season of the TV show which unfortunately plays like watching scenes of a Star Wars video game rather than playing one.… pic.twitter.com/ih8MGQ6mNR

#TheMandalorianAndGrogu is a colorful, action-packed adventure that any Star Wars fan can enjoy. All the fight scenes and high-speed chases will keep you hooked. Pedro Pascal still stands out as Din Djarin, but Grogu (and all the puppets) will tug at your heartstrings. pic.twitter.com/JXDwye5vSl

THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU is a perfect extension of what the show has set up. This is truly the best outing yet for Baby Yoda and his father. And also the best 20 minutes of a side quest ever. Omg I love Star Wars on the big screen!!!!! pic.twitter.com/nllkSNETUQ

#TheMandalorianAndGrogu was a broad movie trying to be a prequel to Star Wars and the series, but since it was supposed to be a movie, it felt like a feature-length Disney+ TV movie. I liked the low-key sense of dread, but I wished there was more to the story worthy of the big screen. pic.twitter.com/0V5cvijwvz

I saw the Mandalorian and Grogu! Fans of the series – before the lore of the Darksaber and the machinations of the Imperial Remnant – will find it right up their alley. It’s a Lucasfilm toy box display.
Get a hot dog, it’s a bit long and Martin Scorsese will make you hungry for a junk meal. pic.twitter.com/PE1CIlOIBN

#TheMandalorianandGrogu is an amazing movie – proving that #StarWars doesn’t need lightsabers to be worthy of the big screen. Gorgeous creature design and a sleek look make this a worthy theatrical experience promotion, and it’s smartly skewed toward an entertaining action-adventure. pic.twitter.com/kta8vtt3O2

The Mandalorian and Grogu is a big return to form for Star Wars. All the things that make Star Wars special are here: the whimsy, the adventure, the weird monsters, the action, the heart, and the rolling Hutts. The result is a beating heart. Star Wars fans should be thrilled about this. pic.twitter.com/c4DhB4OO53
