Hollywood Reporter It has been nominated for 65 SoCal Journalism Awards, including Journalist of the Year honors for Seth Abramovitch, Gary Baum, Mickey O’Connell, and Alex Weprin, nods for film and television critics David Rooney, Angie Hahn, and Daniel Feinberg, and honors for Best Print Issue and Best Website.
Other nominations include Baum for Best Columnist and Scott Feinberg for Best Broadcaster/Host in Audio Journalism as well as mentions in several other categories including social media, photography, video, investigative articles, illustration and blogging.
The winners of the 68th SoCal Press Awards, administered by the Los Angeles Press Club, will be announced at a ceremony June 28 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Press Club will also honor several individuals receiving special awards, including NBC’s Craig Melvin (recipient of the President’s Award for Influencing the Media), Filipino-American journalist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa (Daniel Pearl Award for Courage and Integrity in Journalism), ABC7’s Rob Fukuzaki (Lifetime Achievement Award), and Carol Sobel (Guardian Award for Contributions to Freedom of the Press).
This represents a record number of names for THR At the SoCal Journalism Awards. These nominations come on the heels of a record-breaking 85 nominations at the National Arts and Entertainment Press Awards. THR He also recently won a Webby People’s Voice Award in the Entertainment and General Desktop & Mobile (Web & Mobile) categories and was nominated for a Mirror Award for his debut feature, Stephen Zaitchick’s “Last Call for Late Night,” about the decline of an American institution under unprecedented political and economic pressure.
