The family of a rags-to-riches Israeli immigrant living in Los Angeles is charged after he died after falling from a balcony at a South Florida resort this week, moments after the former reality TV star texted friends that he was on his way to meet them for a night out.
Yakir Levy, 45, was at the Aqualina Resort and Residences in Sunny Isles Beach on Monday when he fell to his death. Before his body could be seen collapsing from the 28th floor balcony, he texted his friends, “I’m coming,” just as they pulled up to the valet — and then they heard a loud crash and screams, stark details that left his friends and family questioning the cause of death.

“They were all getting together to go out. It doesn’t make any sense,” Hirsch told the tabloid. “It’s impossible for me to think he just committed suicide. The other day he was on a boat smoking a cigar, having the time of his life.”
The investigation is being handled by the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Homicide Bureau. Bureau investigators recovered Levy’s cellphone and bag after his fatal fall. They said they were treating the incident as an “unclassified death”.
Born in Ramla, Israel, Levy embodies the American dream for immigrants. He moved to the United States with $300 in his pocket, and went on to launch and run a multi-million dollar company by his mid-40s. His success in the United States landed him on the Israeli reality series Americanswhich follows Israeli expatriates chasing the American dream in the United States.
Levy, who was married with three children, is expected to be buried in Israel, according to a report issued by the foundation Jerusalem Post.
