Royal Canadian Mounted Police have turned an initial missing person case involving Canadian television actor Stuart MacLean into a homicide investigation.

“Squamish RCMP launched an investigation and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe that Mr. McLean was the victim of a homicide,” Mounties Canadians said in a May 21 news release.

“On May 20, IHIT (Integrated Homicide Investigation Team) was deployed and took over the investigation. “Squamish RCMP continue to work closely with IHIT and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to enhance the investigation,” the statement added of the escalating investigation into a possible homicide.

On May 19, RCMP first requested public assistance in locating McLean, 45, after he was reported missing the day before and was last seen on May 15 at his home in Lions Bay, a community in British Columbia’s Sea-to-Sky region. Lions Bay Search and Rescue led the initial search for McLean as a missing person, to be replaced by IHIT investigators active in RCMP areas in the province’s Lower Mainland.

Lions Bay is located near Vancouver, where McLean often appears in movies and television sets filming local Hollywood productions. His credits include Netflix’s Season 7 Episode virgin river, Season 2 episode of the Fox crime drama series murder in a small town, In the Paramount+ true crime series happy face, And the TV movie Lifetime The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story.

His previous television credits include an appearance in season 2 of The CW’s share, Netflix series Travelers and the Freeform TV series behind.
