Director Matt Reeves has picked up the cast following Wednesday’s big reveal and confirmed several new additions to the cast of “The Batman: Part II.” Months after news first surfaced online about the new additions, the director has officially welcomed Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and Charles Dance into the upcoming sequel starring Robert Pattinson.Reeves, who began revealing cast members on his handle X on Wednesday, picked up where he left off and unveiled the new faces joining the world of Gotham.Sharing a gif from her 2013 film Under the Skin, Reeves welcomed Scarlett and wrote: “Next director, Gotham… hello.”
The director also confirmed Stan’s involvement in the sequel, posting, “In a Gotham state of mind… you’re welcome.”
He also shared GIFs of Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance, along with Brian Tyree Henry, who appeared in Joker and Eternals, and Sebastian Koch, the German actor who appeared in Homeland, welcoming them to the cast.
According to reports, Stan is set to play Harvey Dent, while Johansson will play his wife. This will mark a reunion of the stars who first played the Winter Soldier and Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, Dance is believed to play Charles Dent, Harvey’s father.
Also joining the cast are Jaime Lawson as Mayor Bella Real and Gil Perez Abraham as Officer Martinez.“See you all in Gotham… soon,” the director concluded.
The sequel is currently being filmed in the UK. Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, alongside returning cast members Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.While story details are still under wraps, Reeves has previously hinted that the film’s story will unfold over the winter.“The Batman: Part 2” is scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027.
