Supergirl It started its run at the box office. Craig Gillespie’s DC Studios superhero film kicked things off with a $7.8 million start from Thursday previews.

After appearing in 2025 SupermanAlcock returns as Supergirl in the second big-screen film in DC’s slate of bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Reviews were mixed with “Hollywood Reporter”Chief film critic David Rooney deemed it “an uninspired slog”, though praising Millie Alcock’s “strong performance that makes her an engaging heroine”.

After playing Aquaman in the previous DC franchise, Jason Momoa joins Alcock as bad boy Lobo. Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham complete the cast, while David Corenswet reprises his role as Superman.

Also opening this weekend is Paramount’s Donkey: the best and the lastwhich collected $1.2 million from Thursday previews. Director Jeff Tremaine’s fifth film in the Johnny Knoxville-led franchise is looking to take in $10 million domestically, making the most of a budget of just $10 million.

After 2022 Ass foreverthe latest issue sees the return of Knoxville, Steve O, Chris Pontius and the rest of the pain-seeking group.

In his review of Donkey: the best and the last, THR Critic Frank Scheck described Knoxville as a “charismatic performer” and quipped, “If you’re nostalgic about seeing Steve-O again potty-tied and suspended in the air only to be covered in feces, you’re in luck.”
