The actress and singer, who played Anna in the 1994 romantic drama, said that director Kundan Shah once scolded her and asked her to work harder. She also spoke about why Shah Rukh Khan’s film still connects with viewers after 32 years.

According to IANS, Suchitra Krishnamurthy shared the memory during an exclusive conversation with the news agency. She was asked about the enduring popularity of ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ and what made the film work across generations.Suchitra credited director Kundan Shah for the film’s charm and emotional appeal. “I don’t know if I can call it magic, but it was definitely Kundan Shah’s magic. It was the storytelling and the innocence that he captured in every character, be it Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Deepak’s character, Ashutosh’s character,” she said.
The story seemed very natural and relatable. Every film has its own destiny, and I am simply grateful to have been a part of it.
“The film featured Suchitra in the role of Anna, a character that fans still remember fondly. Her pairing with Shah Rukh Khan became one of the key parts of the emotional story of the film.

Suchitra also recalled the direct comment Kundan Shah made to her during the shoot. She said: “I still remember Kundan Shah saying to me: ‘Suchitra, can you work a little harder? You’re here because you look good, because you look like Anna, but you’d better work harder, too.
“Those memories remain very special.”“Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa” was supported by Vikram Mehrotra. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepak Tijori and Naseeruddin Shah in the lead roles. Rita Bhaduri, Satish Shah, Anjan Srivastav, Joga Kapoor, Ravi Baswani, Tiku Talsania, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Kurush Deepu and Aditya Lakhia appear in supporting roles. Shah Rukh Khan later bought the rights to the film under his banner.
