Sony Pictures Classics has acquired all rights in North and Latin America, as well as TV India and Southeast Asia Iron boyIt is a hand-drawn animated film by French director Louis Clichy.
The film, about an 11-year-old boy growing up in rural France, had its world premiere at Cannes’ Un Concern Regard sidebar. It is Clichy’s first film as a solo director, after many years working as an animator for Pixar on features such as… WALL-E and higher.
The film revolves around Christoph, an 11-year-old boy who lives with his strict and distant father on the family farm. Kristoff has a problem with balance. It tends to bend and fall without warning. The doctor prescribes him an iron brace that he needs to wear to stay upright. Unable to work for his father, Kristoff discovers a new passion for music and life off the farm, in the form of a new friend. But it’s not clear whether the corset will actually fix what’s out of balance in Kristoff’s life.
“When we arrived at Cannes, we knew the film would be well received, but its success even exceeded our expectations both in terms of sales and reviews from the international press,” said Nicolas Brigaud-Robert, co-CEO of Playtime, who brokered the deal. “It feels natural that it does Iron boy He found a home in the United States with SPC. Over the years, we have built a strong working relationship with Tom (Bernard), Michael (Parker), and Dylan (Leiner). Iron boy Co-written by Clichy and Frank Salome. The voice cast includes Gary Clichy, Rod Paradot, Brun Moulin, Dimitri Colas, Aurélie Vasseurt, Alexandre Astier, and Jean-Pascal Zadie, with animation by Chloe Aubert.
Céline Vanlint and Nicolas de Rozanbeau produced the film for Eddy Cinéma in co-production with Fabrice Delville and Christophe Tolmonde for Beside Production, Agatha Sauver and Alexandre Astaire for Regular Production, as well as France 3 Cinéma, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma and RTBF.
The deal was negotiated between Sony Pictures Classics and Playtime on behalf of the filmmakers.
