‘Sonic 4’ teases Amy Rose’s story as production on the film’s sequel begins

The latest sequel in Sonic the Hedgehog The film franchise is starting off on the right foot.

Director Jeff Fowler took to social media on Monday to make the announcement Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Production started. The post includes a photo of the director who appears to be holding the hammer associated with the franchise’s pink hedgehog Amy Rose, which follows Hollywood Reporter It was exclusively revealed last month that Kristen Bell is set to voice the role.

“Ready 4 Action,” Fowler, who directed the first three films, captioned his post. “#SonicMovie4 is now filming.”

Adapting the popular Sega video game property, the Paramount Pictures feature is scheduled to hit theaters on March 19, 2027. Additionally, an untitled film in the series will debut in theaters in late 2028.

Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter complete the film’s live-action cast. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Asher, and Toru Nakahara return as producers for the fourth film.

In his review of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to THRLeading film critic David Rooney described the film as “a well-balanced, fast-paced mixture of action and slapstick comedy, in this case set in scenic locales such as Tokyo and London.”
