Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja buy five new apartments in London worth Rs 51.4 crore for employees: report

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja, who are currently residing in London with their two children, are reportedly expanding their property portfolio in the UK. The couple, who had earlier made headlines for buying a lavish mansion in Notting Hill worth around Rs 270 crore, have now allegedly added another major real estate investment to their name.According to a report by Hindustan Times, Sonam and Anand are said to have bought five apartments in a building near their mansion for nearly £4 million (Rs 51.4 crore). The report also claimed that the properties were expected to serve as staff accommodation, a move that dismayed some of the building’s residents.

According to the Daily Mail, local residents also claimed that a spokesperson linked to the company in question warned that the apartments could be converted into “social housing” if residents’ objections continued.

However, a representative associated with the couple clarified that the Kapoor family has no direct connection with the company and confirmed that the apartments were acquired purely as an investment.“We have become afraid to speak out just because they are powerful,” one resident told the publication. “We have formed a sense of community here and that is changing because some billionaires want to make our home another playground.”

This will change even more if they let people in from what they call “social housing”. It’s a strange threat. Everything stinks. No one even lives in some of the apartments now.

Some are being completed. But behind the scenes, they have a say in what happens here. How is that acceptable?”The publication also reported that Sonam and Anand are believed to have spent around £4.7 million (Rs 60.4 crore) renovating their Notting Hill mansion.

Besides their properties in London, the couple also reportedly owns residences in Mumbai and Delhi.Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja tied the knot in March 2018 and welcomed their first child, Vayu, in August 2022. Earlier this year, on March 29, the couple shared the news of the arrival of their second child through a joint announcement on social media.“With great gratitude and hearts full of love, we are thrilled to announce the arrival of our baby boy today, March 29, 2026,” the post read.
