Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has signed on to executive produce the feature documentary Black zombie Before its world premiere this weekend at South by Southwest.

The famous rock singer and genre film enthusiast is also an executive producer sunseta Canadian independent horror film from director Rebecca McKendry that wrapped production in Winnipeg this week.
Black zombiedirected by Maya Annick Bedouard, will debut at SXSW on March 13 as the doc discovers the buried origins of a fictional zombie to reclaim it as a symbol of survival and spiritual resistance.

The film is also the latest to get backing from Slash and his Slasher Films banner after the rocker made his debut as a producer on the 2013 horror film. For director Bedward, Zombie’s origins ultimately lie in a celebration of Haitian resistance and voodoo spirituality. “Slash’s lifelong love of horror and respect for Voodoo make him a great partner in helping bring this history to a wider audience,” the African-Caribbean-Canadian filmmaker added in her own statement.

The busy Slash is also executive producing sunseta vampire thriller from director Rebecca McKendree (“Glorious”), written by Joshua Hall and David Ian McKendree, just wrapped production in Winnipeg this week. “Three generations of women gather in a remote cabin to avenge the death of a loved one, only to discover that their captive is not what he seems, and that his family is closing in on him, waiting for the sun to set,” the producers’ synopsis reads.
