Bollywood star Salman Khan’s bodyguard told a special court in Mumbai that the April 2024 shooting outside the actor’s home was an “attempt to kill him”.The trial in this case began last month, with the bodyguard – also the complainant – testifying as the first witness.Shooting outside Galaxy ApartmentsOn April 14, 2024, two men on a motorcycle opened fire outside Khan’s Bandra residence, Galaxy Apartments.

According to PTI, narrating the sequence of events, the bodyguard told the court that he reported for his regular night shift at 7 pm on April 13. Security was tightened around the actor at that time due to threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.He said: “At around 4 am, we heard sounds that sounded like firecrackers. I checked the surveillance cameras and saw two people on bikes, wearing helmets, shooting towards the building.”He added that the attackers fired four to five bullets.“We rushed out immediately.”“So, I and the other guards immediately ran out of the main gate,” the witness said, adding that the attackers fled towards the “I Love Bandra” point and then headed towards Mehboob Studios Road.The prosecution, led by special public prosecutor Mahesh Maule, also showed CCTV footage in court showing a motorcycle arriving outside the gate, identified by the witness.

Salman Khan was inside his houseThe bodyguard explained that at the time of the accident, Salman Khan was in his bedroom on the first floor.He confirmed before the court that “the shooting was an attempt to kill the actor.”During cross-examination by defense counsel Viral Babbar, the witness confirmed that he was inside the security booth when he first heard the noise. He also said he had “no personal knowledge” of the specific threats made against the actor.Witnesses and other defendantsAnother witness, a police guard, told the court that he was in the hallway during the incident and did not see the shooting, but later noticed bullet casings at the scene.Police identified the shooters as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who allegedly carried out the attack.Investigators further alleged that Muhammad Rafiq Sardar Chaudhry conducted a reconnaissance of the building two days ago, recorded a video and sent it to Anmol Bishnoi, the wanted accused and brother of Lawrence Bishnoi.Gupta and Pal, along with other accused including Sonukumar Bishnoi, Muhammad Rafiq Chowdhury and Harpal Singh, are currently in judicial custody. Another accused, Anujkumar Thabane, allegedly died by suicide while in police custody.Jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi have been named as wanted accused in the case.
