Saturday Night Live UK Sky said on Thursday that the series would return for an extended second season.
The first season’s hosts included Amy Lou Wood, Nicola Coughlan, Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed and Jack Whitehall. Hannah Waddingham will host next Saturday’s episode before Ncuti Gatwa wraps up season one.
Sky said Thursday it has ordered 12 episodes of the British incarnation of NBC’s legendary late-night comedy show for season two, up from eight episodes in season one. Season 2 will begin airing in September and continue until early 2027.
Executive producer Lorne Michaels said: “I’m so proud of our team and the show. It just keeps getting better every week. I’m grateful to Dana Strong and Sky for their belief in SNL UK and their support, and I’m excited for next season.”
Phil Edgar-Jones, executive director of unscripted originals at Sky, added: “It’s fair to say people doubted that SNL would work in the UK, but thanks to Lorne Michaels, his long-running work has Saturday Night Live The production team and UTAS UK, along with our amazing cast and writers, SNL UK is Sky’s most talked about show of the year. It’s now an essential part of the cultural conversation, and we’re thrilled the show is coming back.
SNL UK is produced by UTAS UK and Broadway Video for Sky and Now. Michaels is the executive producer. For Broadway Video, Erin David serves as producer. For UTAS UK, managing director Helen Kruger-Pratt is overseeing production. SNL UK has been commissioned by Edgar-Jones for Cecile Frot-Coutaz, Sky’s chief advertising and content officer and CEO of Sky Studios.
The final musical guests for the first season will be Miles Smith and Holly Humberstone.
