In 1981, Sanjay Dutt made his Bollywood debut with the film Rocky. In the past, he was one of the most in-demand actors, and so far, his charisma has not failed him to seize the opportunity. However, there was a phase in the actor’s life that was called the most controversial chapter.
In March 1993, he was arrested in connection with the serial bombings that took place in Bombay (now Mumbai). He was charged with illegal weapons possession, and Dutt served his sentence in installments. However, as they say, every stage of your life comes for a reason; Teach you a lesson. During the five years he spent in prison, Sanjay Dutt also learned a lesson in tolerance. Interestingly, he learned this from A hawaldar (policeman).

Prolific Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt recently sat down with Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, of AIG Hospitals, where he spoke candidly about what his imprisonment taught him. The topic came up while the host and guest were talking about Sanjay Dutt’s famous song “Jadu ki jabi” Sorry and thank you. These two simple terms keep a person grounded, Dr. Reddy noted.
In addition to his statement, Sanjay Dutt spoke about the importance of tolerance.Recalling his time behind bars, he said: “I also learned this during my imprisonment. I learned to forgive.”The ‘Vastav’ actor said, “A policeman taught me that. He told me, ‘Learn to forgive people, and you will grow more in your life.'”He explained how the policeman told him that no matter who hurt him, he had to practice tolerance.
The actor added that although it sounds like a noble idea, it’s easier said than done. “But it is very difficult to do,” he admitted.“This is the main thing,” he concluded.
When Sanjay Dutt said that the prison sentence crushed his ego
In another media interaction, Dutt spoke more about his time in prison. “It crushed my ego,” he told IANS, before adding, “My days in confinement were nothing less than a roller coaster ride. To look at the positive side, it has taught me a lot and made me a better person.”

Sanjay Dutt wished his father was alive to see him free
Sanjay Dutt was released from prison in 2016, a decade after the death of his father Sunil Dutt. When he talked about the same while interacting with the said post, he said, “The day I was released after the final judgement, was the happiest moment of my life. I was missing my father (Sunil Dutt). I wish he was alive to see me free. He would have been the happiest person.”He gave the message that family is the greatest strength and one should not take it for granted.
