Aayush Sharma and Arpita Khan Sharma may have tied the knot in 2014, but their journey to marriage came with its share of surprises and hesitations, especially from Aayush’s family. While Arpita’s brother, Salman Khan, stood firm in support of the relationship and even pushed the couple towards marriage, Ayush’s parents were initially unsure about the match.Aayush recalls how his first meeting with Salman unexpectedly led to a life-changing decision. As soon as Salman learned about their relationship, he called Ayush for a chat and asked them about their future. When Arpita mentioned that she was thinking of getting married within a year, things moved quickly, even though Aayush had not informed his parents yet. “I didn’t know myself, how could I tell my parents? I just walked in and said hello, and she was asked if I would marry her, so I said yes.
I walked out knowing that I would be married in a year. I had no idea where life was taking me. So, I had to tell my parents. They were introducing me to their families, when I was thinking, ‘How am I going to tell my parents?’” He said during a conversation with Cyrus Brocha.

Priyanka Chopra and Arpita Khan meet from the heart: “Our girls are best friends!”
Reflecting on that phase, Aayush admitted that he often wondered why Arpita’s family was comfortable with the alliance despite its lack of financial stability at the time. “I always wondered: What were they thinking? Because I wasn’t making any money.
Somewhere down the line, I always used to suspect it was too weird. I have seen in movies that a boy is asked how much he earns. Who would marry his daughter or sister to someone like me, who wasn’t making any money at that time? Of course, I belonged to a certain family but that was not me in Mumbai. When it came time to meet the families, Ayush’s parents were surprised. “I asked my mother if she was Salman’s sister.
I told my father that she is my friend. He said: Uski (Salman) bin tere saath kya karahi hai? He had a strange expression on his face and then I told him we were getting married. He asked: What is happening here? “First you wanted to study, then you fought to become an actor, and now you say you want to get married,” Ayush recalls. His father remained skeptical, especially whether Ayush was honest about his financial situation.
“My father said, ‘You’re only 24, and you don’t have facial hair yet.’ And he was actually very interested in knowing what my family saw in me? He wanted to go and tell them I wasn’t doing anything, because he thought I lied and made false promises.”In fact, during the meeting, his father was not shy about dropping hints. “You have a big heart,” he told them. “I wouldn’t give my daughter to someone like him. He doesn’t earn anything.”
He was giving them all these hints to prepare them. He even told them that he earns only 30-40k and I gave him his house. Despite these concerns, Salman expressed full confidence in Ayush. Salman Bhai said that he is aware of all this.
He said: “I think he has the potential, and I will train him.”However, Ayush’s father remained unconvinced for a while. “I told my father that I don’t know whether I want to be an actor or not. He saw my first release and told me that I don’t know how to act. He said: Vo baat nahi hai, kuch special nahi hai,” Ayush concluded. I respected that. He praised me after my second film.” Arpita, who was adopted by the Khan family as a child, shares a close relationship with Salman. She and Ayush married on November 18, 2014, and they now have two children, Ahil and Ayat.
