“Salman Khan is not a god.” He’s not my godfather. ‘He can’t stop me’: ‘Kala Hiran’ director defends ‘Blue Bracelet’ claims amid Delhi High Court case
The controversy surrounding ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle For Legacy’ continues to escalate daily. The film, inspired by events linked to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, has already sparked controversy due to its propaganda and the striking resemblance between one of its main characters and Salman Khan. Amid increasing scrutiny, director Bharat S Shrinate addressed the criticism and defended his creative choices. The discussion gained momentum after veteran actor Govind Namdev publicly distanced himself from the project, claiming that he was not aware of the actual subject of the film. However, Bharath rejected this account, stressing that the actor was fully aware of the project during its preparation.
The director defends the bracelet reference
One of the most talked about elements of the teaser of ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle For Legacy’ is the appearance of actor Kashif Iqbal Khan as…
Ayan Khan
a character that many viewers believe resembles Salman Khan. Adding to the comparisons is the turquoise bracelet that is often associated with the Bollywood star.According to News18, addressing the issue, Bharat rubbished suggestions that the accessory belongs exclusively to Salman. “The bracelet is not a patented accessory. If Salman feels that only he can wear it, he should get a patent. This bracelet should not be available anywhere else in the world. I completely disagree with the narrative that this film or this character is based on Salman. Our character is not Salman Khan.”
This is just a movie!”The director insisted that audiences read too much into the visual similarities, and said the character should not be automatically associated with the actor.Aside from the bracelet, many social media users pointed out Kashf Iqbal Khan’s overall look, claiming that his look is deliberately similar to Salman. However, Bharat emphasized that no special effort was made to create this similarity.Drawing a comparison with Abhijit Bance’s ‘Thackeray’, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, he explained that unlike biopics where actors undergo elaborate transformations, no such process was used in his project. Nawazuddin Siddiqui once played the role of Balasaheb Thackeray in a film [‘Thackeray’]. He was made to look like him through prosthetics and makeup. But in our film, we didn’t use any prosthetics.
Our actor naturally looks like Salman. The director also stated that there was not much he could do about the actor’s natural appearance. “I couldn’t change his appearance. I couldn’t use prosthetics on him to make him look like someone he’s not. Kya kar sakte hai? Agar kisi ko pareshaani ho rahi hai isse, toh main kya bolu?”
“Kala Hiran” Legal battle It arrives Delhi High Court
The issue has now moved beyond public debate. Salman Khan has filed an application in the Delhi High Court seeking to stop the release and promotion of Kala Hiran: The Battle For Legacy.
According to reports, the actor argued through his legal team that the project contains references that violate his personal rights. The legal move came after the film’s promotional materials allegedly included elements that Salman believed had a direct connection to him despite the film’s makers not using his real name.Bharat did not hold back while responding to the legal action. The director stressed that he will not be intimidated by the star’s status in the industry.
“Salman Khan is not a god. He is not my godfather. He cannot stop me. He cannot destroy me and my career and he cannot make me and my career.”While he said he respects different opinions on cinema, Bharath admitted that he was disappointed by the legal notice due to the years of effort invested in reviving the project.
Bharat S. Shrinath calls for dialogue rather than restrictions
The director stressed that the films aim to encourage discussion and discussion, and therefore criticism is something he is willing to accept.
However, he believes that attempts to stop the project before the public sees it undermine the work of the entire team. “I always welcome healthy discussions. Everyone has a point of view. Cinema is about sparking conversations.”He also added, “But in the end, it is the audience who will decide the impact and value of the film. Our film was made with the collective effort of many people. And now, suddenly, someone has sent us a legal notice.”
They are trying to disrupt our film. Pura toh lagta hai. A lot of planning and research goes into writing and producing a film. We had been planning to make this film for years.Concluding his remarks, Bharat urged Salman Khan to watch the film before coming to any conclusions about its content or purpose. According to the director, immediate legal procedures without seeing the completed project ignore the effort put into developing it.“Ek jhatke mein legal notice bhejna matlab saari mehnat ko rok dena. He is doing this because he feels the film is about him. He should go and watch the film first and then decide.”As the dispute continues, “Kala Hiran: The Battle for the Legacy” remains at the center of a growing legal and public debate, with both sides steadfastly sticking to their positions.
