Filmmaker Rohit Shetty allegedly received a Rs 20-crore extortion threat from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang through a 90-second audio clip, believed to be the voice of wanted criminal Shubham Lonkar. The gang warned that unlike the shooting at Joho in February, this time the bullets would target Shetty directly.

Director Rohit Shetty is in the news once again for all the wrong reasons. Just months after the shooting incident at his residence in Juhu, the manager allegedly received a new threat from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. According to reports, the gang is demanding a whopping Rs 20 crore as extortion money from the director.

The threat was reportedly sent through an audio clip, in which the accused made it quite clear that if Rohit failed to pay the demanded amount, he would personally be the direct target this time.

According to IANS, the audio clip contained a more chilling direct warning to the director. The accused allegedly stated that the shooting at Shetty’s house in Juhu was just a prelude to what was to come. They made it very clear that if the director did not comply with their demands this time, the bullets would not be aimed at his property but at him personally.

How did Rohit Shetty’s employees discover the threatening audio clip?

According to police, the matter came to light on Saturday morning when Shetty’s employees found an audio clip about 90 seconds long. Investigators believe that the voice in the clip belongs to Shubham Lonkar, a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, who is already a wanted criminal.

Lonkar is reportedly wanted by authorities in connection with two serious cases, the murder of leader Baba Siddiqui in 2024 and the shooting incident that took place outside Rohit’s residence in Juhu in February 2026.

What action did the police take in Rohit Shetty’s blackmail threat case?

A Mumbai Crime Branch official confirmed that Shetty’s staff wasted no time and immediately handed over the audio clip to the police for investigation. Based on the preliminary investigation, the authorities believe that the voice heard in the clip is that of Shubham Lonkar.

To further verify and confirm this, the clip was sent for forensic examination, and investigators are eagerly awaiting the results.

When was Rohit Shetty’s house attacked in Juhu earlier?

In February, Rohit’s home in Juhu was the target of a horrific attack when five bullets were fired outside his home near Hasia Kalakar Mahmud Chowk. Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang proudly claimed responsibility for the attack soon after. It has been shot before

In April, the Mumbai Crime Branch filed a massive 1,624-page chargesheet in connection with the shooting incident. The names of 15 defendants were mentioned in the indictment.
