The late director and actor Rob Reiner made a posthumous appearance on this week’s episode of HBO Life, Larry, and the pursuit of unhappinessHe photographed George Washington and made a veiled attack on President Trump.
Reiner and his wife, Michelle Singer Reiner, were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home on December 14. Their son, Nick Rayner, was soon arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder; He is currently being held without bail while awaiting trial in Los Angeles. He has pleaded not guilty.
In Larry David’s new comedy series, executive produced in part by Barack and Michelle Obama through their production company Higher Ground, which aired its second episode on Friday, July 3, Reiner as Washington appears before a crowd of colonists and announces that he will not run for a third term.
Like Washington, Reiner said, “I believe no one should serve more than two terms as president.” “I hope future presidents will follow my example.”
“What if the future president doesn’t follow your lead and run for a third term,” David replied, portraying a colonist. Reiner’s figure in Washington said this should be banned.
He was vocal about Trump, but never mentioned his name, and David’s persona continued.
“Well, what if there’s some idiot in office, some narcissistic scoundrel, who doesn’t follow the Constitution? He can use the presidency to enrich himself and his family,” he said. “He can send troops into American cities to terrorize and even kill American citizens, all to distract attention from the fact that he is friends with a pedophile.”
Jimmy Kimmel, who has been a foil to President Trump for years and whose late-night show was paused last fall over his comments on Republican response to the killing of Charlie Kirk, also appeared in the skit. Kimmel also portrayed a colonist and took a sarcastic swipe at the situation.
“Are you suggesting that the President take the time to challenge anyone who dares to make fun of him? Like he’s a big kid?” He said.
Life, Larry and the pursuit of unhappiness Takes an improvised comedic approach to major events in American history in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America.
Shock resounded throughout Hollywood in December when news broke of the murder of the Reiner family and the arrest of Nick Reiner, who had reportedly been diagnosed with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. His next court date is scheduled for next September for a preliminary hearing. He has filed a legal complaint alleging that a trust fund set up by his parents was withheld from him while he attempted to pay for a criminal defense attorney.
