The actor, who is gearing up for the release of his historical drama Raja Shivaji – in which he plays the legendary warrior king – shared a strongly worded note on social media.Taking to X, Ritesh wrote in Marathi, expressing his anguish over the remarks. “When someone comes and spews some distorted nonsense about our dear God, like Shiv Premi and Shiv Bhakt, it is unacceptable and infuriating. Such futile attempts to belittle the legacy will never be tolerated.”

He further added, “But just as the Sahyadri mountain ranges existed millions of years before, this name will also continue for millions of years in the future.

The backlash comes after Dhirendra Krishna Shastri’s comments during a public event in Nagpur. Narrating an anecdote, he said: “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was so tired of fighting wars; he felt exhausted. One day, he went to Ramdas Swami. He took off his crown and put it on, saying, ‘I don’t want to fight wars anymore…’
