Veteran actress Rekha’s journey into the film industry began under difficult circumstances. Having started acting at a young age, she moved to Mumbai with her mother during her teenage years in search of opportunities in cinema.

During that period, she met actor Sanjay Khan, although their first meeting did not immediately lead to work.Sanjay Khan’s daughter, Farah Khan Ali, revealed that Rekha recently revisited that memory while visiting the Khan family after the death of Farah’s mother, Zareen Khan. “My father released Rekha’s film,” Farah said in an interview with Vicky Lalwani, before narrating what the veteran actor told her.“Rekha came home recently, when my mother died. She used to say the only reason I am in films is because of your mother,” Farah recalls. She explained that Sanjay Khan was initially reluctant to take pictures with Rekha because he did not consider her conventionally attractive at the time.Sharing Rekha’s special memories, Farah said: ‘Rekha said, ‘Because when I first came, I was very plump and not very attractive, and your father didn’t want to take a picture with me.’

Your mother, Zareen, kept saying, “Look at this girl, look at her pretty eyes and pretty mouth, please take a picture with her.” So your father reluctantly agreed to take the picture with me and when the pictures came he said, “Well, it looks good.”
