Ranbir Kapoor’s leaked ‘Ramayana’ clip faces removal as makers claim it was partly generated by AI: ‘Our team monitors and removes material’

The makers of ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ have launched an aggressive anti-piracy campaign after an 11-second video clip featuring Ranbir Kapoor went viral on social media platforms. The clip, which surfaced on July 2, has been widely circulated on X (formerly Twitter), Reddit and other platforms, with many users claiming it is leaked footage from the exclusive preview shown at CinemaCon 2026.Shortly after the video began to gain more attention online, the film team initiated takedown actions through its anti-piracy partners to prevent the clip from spreading further.

The viral ‘Ramayana’ video is not entirely original

According to Mid-Day, reports indicate that the footage released is not entirely real. While some visual elements are believed to be from the film, other parts have been manipulated using artificial intelligence and digital editing techniques. The report also stated, “Our team is actively monitoring the internet and removing material. Some elements of the 11-second video were AI-generated, while some glimpses from the movie were converted and used. However, the team doesn’t want any skins to appear just yet. Glimpses, even AI-generated ones, take away from the movie’s vision.”

The makers remain firm in protecting the film

Director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra are said to be treating hacking and AI-generated misinformation with equal importance as they gear up for the film’s promotional campaign.

Sharing the team’s stance, the report said: “The trailer will be released later this month on an international platform. We have to ensure that nothing is released before the launch.”The filmmakers are determined to ensure audiences experience the world of “Ramayana: Part 1” as it was originally conceived, without unauthorized leaks or altered images affecting first impressions.

“Ramayana: Part 1” created quite a stir at CinemaCon

The excitement surrounding ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ has been steadily building ever since producers Namit Malhotra and Yash revealed an exclusive preview of the film during CinemaCon 2026, held from April 13-16. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash in pivotal roles, the epic mythological adaptation is among the most anticipated Hindi films currently in production, with fans eagerly awaiting its official trailer later this month.
