Priyadarshan reveals whether Akshaye Khanna, Salman Khan, Govinda are difficult to work with: 'Don't try to change actors, accept them'

Veteran director Priyadarshan spoke about his working equation with actors, stressing that understanding individuals is the key to smooth collaboration. The director paid tribute to Akshaye Khanna, calling him a “complete actor” and someone with whom he has a strong bond. Backing his stance with examples, the director spoke about working with stars like Salman Khan and Govinda, both of whom are often described as unpredictable.

Veteran director Priyadarshan spoke about his working equation with actors, stressing that understanding individuals is the key to smooth collaboration. The director paid tribute to Akshaye Khanna, calling him a “complete actor” and someone with whom he has a strong bond.“People say that some actors are difficult, but I find them very easy to work with. The key is to understand and accept individuals as they are,” Priyadarshan told Siddharth Kannan.

“Once a person accepts, things fall into place.”

Commenting on the long-standing perception of ‘difficult’ actors in the industry, the director dismissed the idea, revealing that he rarely faced such challenges.“I don’t try to decode or change anyone. I accept them as they are and then ask them to do what I need them to do.”

Once someone accepts, things automatically fall into place, he explained.Priyadarshan emphasized that a director’s approach plays a crucial role in shaping the dynamics on set, suggesting that mutual respect and acceptance often eliminate friction.

Backing his stance with examples, the director spoke about working with stars like Salman Khan and Govinda, both of whom are often described as unpredictable. “People said Govinda wouldn’t come on time – he did. They said Salman had mood swings – I never experienced that. They were both cheerful all the time,” he said.
