Dan Trachtenberg, the director behind the recent Predator films victim and Badlandswill be treated to an animated feature based on the graphic novel Freddy the 13th.
Yehudi Mercado is behind the graphic novel about a family vacation gone awry, when jovial Uncle Freddy accidentally kills the bogeyman and takes over his powers, and he must go on a quest to break the curse.
The Paramount Animation project, which currently has no title, was announced today at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Paramount said the project will incorporate elements of the horror genre into children’s animation for “healthy, PG-level horror and laughter for the whole family.”
Mercado will co-direct, and Trachtenberg and Ben Rosenblatt are set to produce.
Next, Paramount Animation will release Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie on August 14, 2026. The division, run by Jennifer Dodge, recently announced an animated film based on the long-running competition series Survivorwhich will be set in the Animal Kingdom, and the holiday animation special Naughty list By Robert Rodriguez.
Trachtenberg, repped by CAA, Untitled and Johnson Shapiro, is also behind 10 Cloverfield Lane, And also rings Black mirror and Boys.
