Veteran actor and singer Piyush Mishra has never been known to mince his words, and his recent interview was proof of that. The veteran actor spoke about his complicated off-screen relationship with director Anurag Kashyap. He also highlighted his equation with actor Naseeruddin Shah.
Piyush chooses Mishra Imtiaz Ali On Anurag Kashyap
In a candid conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, when asked to choose between Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Kashyap as a creative collaborator, Piyush Mishra did not take even a moment to think.“Imtiaz Ali, any day. He is a great director and writes amazing scripts. I feel very comfortable after working with him,” he said. However, his next words about Kashyap were much more complex.Piyush Mishra said: “Anurag does that too, but… How can I define Anurag Kashyap to you? Why does he talk so much? He is unnecessarily wronging himself.”
You must either do good for yourself or the other person, but he is not even thinking about himself. That’s his problem.”In the same conversation, Piyush admitted that he and Kashyap, who collaborated on the cult classic ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ (2012), share a functional and fruitful working relationship. “If you’re against something, you should at least give results,” he said. “The main thing is that he knows he won’t get any results; he still talks too much.”
He went on to add, “Mujhe zabardast virodh hai usse (I have a big problem with that). We barely communicate; I can’t talk to him for a longer period, and neither can he. We don’t talk, just shoot films. But we work well together; we both know what we want. He also used to abuse me earlier, but I’m just doing it now.”
Piyush Mishra talks about Naseeruddin Shah
During the interview, Piyush Mishra also spoke about his tense equation with Naseeruddin Shah, which did not leave much room for ambiguity. He said: “I do not have a good relationship with Naseer. Neither I love him nor he loves me. If the two parties do not like each other, this becomes an ideal stage not to talk, because you know that you do not like each other, so there is no need to talk.”On the work front, Piyush Mishra is currently touring with his band ‘Ballimaaraan’ on the ‘Aarambh 2.0 India’ tour. His upcoming projects included ‘The Saga of Rashtriya Rifles’ and ‘Lollypop Since 1947’.
