Peacock has released his first look Friday the 13th Prequel series Crystal LakeIt seems to be a fun story about kids enjoying summer camp.
I’m just kidding.
The first images and short teaser for the series produced on A24 show Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother, the mother of the film series’ Big Bad, who becomes increasingly desperate after her son drowns (which is, of course, the inciting event for the entire film series). In the teaser (watch it below), one character speculates that “It’s as if someone placed a curse on this town. It all started when that kid drowned last summer. There’s something in these woods, and all it knows how to do is kill.”
Crystal Lake The series focuses on Pam Cardellini, “who has been unable to shake her grief after her sick young son Jason tragically drowned in a city lake nearly a year ago,” the show’s description says. When two strangers show up at Pam’s door to dig into her past, a series of disturbing events begin, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: Who exactly is Pam Voorhees?
“It’s only in[first[firstFriday the 13th movie]for the last part, but it left such an impression on the entire franchise. There are so many later movies that you would think Jason was always wearing that mask doing what he did. But that was not the case, Cardellini said. Hollywood Reporter About playing Pam. “It seemed like something I’d never done before. I haven’t seen a lot of women dissected like that. To delve into who she could be, I thought, well, this is something I’ve never done.”
William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom also star. Crystal Lucke. Callum Vinson (who plays young Jason), Nick Cordileone, Joey Soprano, Danielle Couch, and Phoenix Barnevik have recurring roles.
Brad Caleb Kane (ET: Welcome to Derry) created the series and serves as writer and showrunner. He executive produces with Mark Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Menashel, Tyson Bedner, Michael Lennox and Roy Lee.
