R. Madhavan, who played IB director Ajay Sanyal in Dhurandhar, recently had to explain a controversial scene. Social media was abuzz with pictures and clips of him smoking, claiming that he puffed on a cigarette during a recitation of the song Dasam Granth by singer Guru Gobind Singh Ji. In response to the Sikh community’s anger, he released an explanatory video.“I am sure that during this scene, before delivering the lines, Aditya Dhar, who cares about these things more than me, asked me to put out the cigarette in advance. He said no smoke will come out of my mouth, no smoke will appear on screen, there will be no cigarette in my hand as it is very pure and sacred for us,” Madhavan explained.

Aditya explained that the photo was taken by Amnesty International and said that the team has great respect for the Sikh community. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ opened in theaters on March 19 and is still running.
